I told you I was working on something sweet! For the third part of my Valentine’s day series I wanted to share a simple and tasty dessert idea–chocolate covered strawberries. They’re actually very easy to make, truly a lot easier than what I thought it would be. I made them for my friends in just a matter of minutes.
You will need the following:
– Big & Fresh Strawberries (the bigger the better)
– 4 oz Semi Sweet Chocolate (for every 20 strawberries)
– 1 oz White Chocolate
– Colorful Sprinkles
– Baking Sheet
– Wax Paper
– Cutting Board
– Durable Knife
– 2 Forks
– 2 Bowls
– Wooden Skewers
– A Long Plate
– A Squared Plate
Wash and dry the strawberries thoroughly. Begin chopping your chocolate coarsely. Place the chocolate in a heat resistant bowl and put it in the microwave for 30-second intervals. You will need to stir it in between, until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.
Hold your strawberries by the stem end (one by one), dip them in the melted chocolate, and let the chocolate drip for few seconds in order to get rid of any excess chocolate.
Place the dipped strawberries onto a baking sheet lined with wax paper. As you set each berry down, slide it ½ inch to the side to prevent the formation of a chocolate “foot.”
Add sprinkles and sea salt to your strawberries while the chocolate is melted. Wait until the chocolate is firm to add the white chocolate drizzle with a fork. I had a little bit of trouble with that. I think I should’ve held my fork higher up, like 6 inches from the strawberries, ideally your drizzle should be thin and neat. Hopefully you’ll have better luck with that. 🙂
Refrigerate your strawberries until the chocolate is completely firm, which will take about 30 minutes.
Serve them in a long plate and add a few more sprinkles for decoration.
You can also put a few in a skewer and for an extra sugar boost add marshmallows, dip those in chocolate too.
