The other day I heard someone describe the American character as a “sense of optimism and a real can do attitude.” This definition really resonated with me. As I definitely feel optimistic and confident enough to take on anything when I’m wearing something that is equally cool and on trend as it is chic. When walking through the streets of the city I’ve lived in all my life, a place known for it’s chill street style and casual attitude, I really enjoy creating the perfect city look. It’s a perfect opportunity to mix classic basics with statement pieces that are fun, attention grabbing, and possibly even patriotic, just like this Forever 21 American flag sweater. Statement pieces do just that–make a statement.
I absolutely love the fact that this sweater showcases the American flag pattern, the colors are so lush and vibrant against the cream fabric and the trim is slightly rolled, giving it a relaxed feeling that is perfectly suited for this beautiful California weather. I’m also a big fan of stars and stripes as it reminds me of Independence Day. What’s great about this sweater is that you can dress them up for a lunch date with friends like I did (I just added heels), or down with flats or a pair of booties. I wore it with my favorite pair of nude heels to give it a clean, and dressy feel. But to persist with the street style look I was going for I chose to wear ripped blue jeans. I’m really loving these jeans big time right now, because I find them to be daring and fashion forward, yet classic and reminiscent of the ’80s, which is super appealing to me. They complete the look!
