Can you believe today is the first day of September? Where has the year gone? Gosh the end of summer is right around the corner! :'( But, enough of the bad, lets focus on the good! One positive thing that comes with changing seasons are store SALES lol. As you already know dresses are my go-to outfit pretty much on a daily basis (and whats best is that now they’re all on sale!! YAY). Sure I might wear jeans here and there, maybe some dressy pants every once in a while, but dresses are definitely my peanut butter to my jelly. I love wearing dresses as much as I possibly can. They’re just so easy to rock; you put it on, accessorize a little and you’re set to go. Wearing a dress is just an easy way to look stylish and put together without much effort, as the focal point throughout the day is the print or color of your dress. Personally I think dresses not only make us look extra beautiful, but also make us feel a lot more feminine and sophisticated. Haven’t you noticed how good you feel when you wear a dress that fits great? It honestly puts me in such a great mood that I think it radiates outward and other people notice it too.
On this day I opted for a short summer dress, with ruffles around the neckline and subtle blue stripes. My simple necklace and gold cuff were the only jewelry pieces I needed to accessorize such a lovely dress. Short summer dresses go very well with heels that have an ankle strap, as well as shoes with a thicker heel. A tan colored shoe is also a good idea, as it gives the illusion of longer legs. I think shoes with additional details work great with short summer dresses, as you’re able to show off your shoes a lot more. So reach for that fringe heel the next time you wear a short summer dress.

When it comes to long dresses I feel that I’m a lot pickier about fit and definitely length. Since I’m on the taller side (5’8″) I always make sure that my long dresses fall a few centimeters past my ankles, but way above my toes. As this will guarantee that I’ll be able to wear the dresses with heels, as well as with flats. There’s nothing worst than stepping out of your front door wearing your brand new dress and ripping it the moment you step down your front door steps. Right? So make sure it fits really good lengthwise. If it doesn’t you can always have it altered. Now moving on to style. In addition to ruffles I’m also loving this sheer trend going on. Have you noticed it? At first I wasn’t fond of long dresses being sheer at the legs. But, I must say this trend has definitely grown on me. I feel it makes the dress flow smoother as you walk, it’s a lot lighter, and it looks great!
This BCBGeneration dress has that sheer effect I’m talking about. There was no doubt I was buying this dress the moment I saw it online. It has ruffles, a pretty print, and the sheer effect– WHAT? lol Again, I didn’t have to accessorize too much with this dress either. I double dipped and wore the same ankle strap heels as I did for the short summer dress. However, I do think long summer dresses look best with strappy heels or even a solid colored wedge. I feel that long dresses put a lot of focus on your feet since your legs are covered. For that reason its a good idea to wear a really pretty shoe made out of suede, or that has metallic details.
