For the past month I’ve given the Trinity Facial Toning Device by NuFace a try. I’m so into trying skincare devices lately. I like the idea of seeing what the beauty industry has to offer other than just moisturizers and night creams.
So lets dive into this new facial tool.
What It Claims to Do
The purpose of the NuFace Trinity is to stimulate the facial skin using microcurrent technology. The claim that NuFace makes is that this will result in an improved appearance of the skin since new cell growth will occur, and this will result in an increase of collagen and elastin. The two treatment heads are what provide the gentle currents to run through the skin as one glides the device over the face.
I was really interested in trying this device since microcurrent technology is what is used in top spas and medical offices after a peel or microdermabrasion in order to help the skin recover much faster. I must say though that I did do my research before trying it on my face, since I am obviously not a dermatologist and have never working in a medical office of any sort. So I wanted to take every single precaution before I actually put it on my face. Call me extra cautious, a little paranoid, it’s ok lol. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that this is the only FDA cleared handheld device for the main purpose of toning the facial skin.
How I used It
After washing my makeup off and pat drying my face with a towel I applied the NuFace gel primer that came with the device on my cheeks, forehead, and neck. I used the beginner technique during the first week, meaning I kept the intensity of the microcurrents as low as possible. As I moved onto week two I increased the intensity by one level, and one more every week after that. I always start at the base of my nose and wait for the first beep. As soon as I hear it I start moving the device upward towards my cheek bones. I repeat the process two more times, placing the treatment heads closer to my mouth each time. Then I move on to my forehead, starting right above the tail of my left eyebrow and glide the device upwards. Again I repeat the process two more times placing the heads towards the middle of my forehead. I repeat the exact same process above my right eyebrow. Finally I move to my neck. I start at the base of my neck and glide the heads upwards towards my jawline.
What it Did for Me
I used this device daily for five weeks and until this last week I started noticing changes on my face. I must say that it does not provide an immediate noticeable change on your skin. However, if you’re committed to it, use it every single day either at night or in the morning (I use it at night), over time you do start seeing subtle changes. In my case that has been a more toned jawline and a slight puffiness reduction underneath my eyes. I like that the handheld device is rechargeable, so I didn’t have to purchase batteries. It is really easy to handle and my favorite part was that it comes with a built in timer. This feature was essential for me since I usually don’t know how long to keep a skincare product on my face. I either remove it before the time specified in the instructions in order to be a little more cautious since I do have very sensitive skin. But, in the past that has resulted in products not working for me since I’m not keeping it on long enough. Yet, other times when I have kept certain products on too long I have experienced adverse effects. So the idea of having a timer that beeps automatically to let me know when I’m supposed to move the device is really good for me.
I will definitely keep using the NuFace Trinity as part of my daily night routine since I’m curious to see if it will continue to improve the appearance of my face. Once I run out of the gel primer I will give the device a break, and reorder the gel a few weeks later.
