Unexpected Combination

Have you ever made an online purchase that just doesn’t fit or look the way you imagined once you receive it in the mail?

That recently happened to me. I have been looking for a denim shirt dress for the last few weeks. I was thrilled when I found one I that was really cute and at a great price. My intention was to wear it with white sneakers on days I have errands to run and want to be extra comfy, remain cool, and casual. However, once I received it I noticed it was pretty short. It hit two inches below my bum. I can try to wear it out, but I know I will be very uncomfortable all day long, and thats never fun!

So I was feeling pretty disappointed since I liked it a lot. As I was trying it on I heard the door bell ring. It was the UPS man delivering a package I had to sign for. So right away I ran into my closet and got the first thing I saw, a black skater skirt, and put it over the dress in order to open the door. Once I came back into my bedroom I realized that the denim dress actually looked pretty good tucked into my skater skirt. It was a total unexpected combination. I kept the dress on and tried it with other items I have in my closet like chunky tights, thigh high boots and various jackets. I also realized I can wear it to the beach as a cover up on summer days. So I decided to keep it.

A burgundy moto jacket really amped up the look as I was combining leather with leather. The day was rather chilly, so a sheer pair of tights kept me warm enough. The whole day was filled by errands and running to class, so I wore my small heel booties. In order to brighten up the gloomy day I made sure to add a great statement necklace and a burgundy pout 🙂
