How to Style a Blanket Scarf

January 5, 2016Evelyn Madera

How to Style a Blanket Scarf - Sure blanket scarves are big enough to be used as an actual blanket, but that's not how I'll be using it today. I will wrap myself around it and use it to keep me warm. However, I also want it to highlight my outfit, rather than make me look like I just rolled out of bed. For that reason I chose a blanket scarf with fringe trim and a great blend of colors. Like purple, orange, brown, as well as light and dark shades or grey. Since blanket scarves are so big they look best paired with wardrobe basics. Jeans, leggings, and even a knit dresses fall in this category. In my case, I opted for a pair of scuba leggings. I could've worn a basic white T, fringe booties, and a hat for a casual movie night. I wanted to make my look dinner appropriate, so I traded the t-shirt for a long sleeve dark grey blouse and a pair of black patent heels. I'm loving how versatile the blanket scarf is.

Surviving the Holidays in Style

December 23, 2015Evelyn Madera

Surviving the Holidays in Style - The holidays can seriously be super stressful, but you know what, they don't have to be. Surviving the holidays is actually pretty easy. You just have to think of a couple of key pieces that keep you feeling good, looking good and comfortable. Today I'm outlining my 5 must have items to survive the holidays in style. Here we go: 1. Sequins - Sure sequins can be used all year round, but this is the time of year we can wear them all day, everyday. They are just so festive, pretty, and glam. 2. Comfortable heels - Heels and comfortable are usually never found in the exact same sentence. Even though this may sound like an unrealistic dream, it actually can become a reality. Find a shoe that fits perfectly, one that you can stand on for at least 3 hours, and looks good with dresses as well as with pants. 3. Control tights - Holiday season is synonymous with good eating. I'm like an endless pit during this time of year. So what's my secret to keeping me from looking pudgy and bloated? Hanes firm control power shapers. 4. Fuzzy sweater/Shaggy jacket - If you don't have a fuzzy sweater or a shaggy jacket in your closet then I don't know where you've been for the last 16 months. This trend has been around since fall of 2014. Not only does it make any outfit extra luxe, but it also keeps you extra warm and cozy. 5. Hairspray - I had to include my most important beauty product on this list. My Tresemme tres two extra hold hairspray keeps my hair looking fabulous from beginning to end.

Pom Pom Ears – Part II

December 16, 2015Evelyn Madera

Pom Pom Ears - Part II: These new pom pom ears that have been added to hats and beanies, they've become so popular lately. They're showing up as key chain accessories that can be attached not only to your keys, but also to bags. In addition to them popping out on hats as a set (like the one I'm wearing), most recently I've seen them on shoes too! How cute is that? I seriously built my outfit around my pom pom ears hat. I knew I wanted to wear it right away, so I got to work in putting together an outfit that would accentuate my favorite new accessory. My hat looks a little bit like an equestrian helmet. So that's where my inspiration took me. I pulled out my tall brown boots from the back of my closet. These are definitely not your typical riding boot, as they have a 4 inch heel and a thick platform. But, for city life they're ideal. I paired them with crisp white jeans, an embellished grey sweater, a white button down shirt for extra warmth, and a cozy plush ivory vest, that's actually reversible! The result was better than expected. As I was super warm and very comfortable all day long. I also felt like I should trade in my car for a horse, don't you think? ;) lol

I’m so happy the weather is finally cooling down to the point where we can start wearing warm items. One of my favorites being hats. I love keeping my head warm and cozy, specially if it makes my outfit cute. Read more...
