How to Combine Suede and Florals

November 8, 2016Evelyn Madera Leave a Comment

Transitioning from summer to fall is my favorite time of the year, since we slowly say goodbye to flowy shirts and boho vibes and start welcoming structured silhouettes and deep colors. And what better way do that than with suede and florals, right? You don't have to have a huge wardrobe budget to put together a similar outfit, instead you just need a few key pieces in order to truly embrace this type of look. You probably have at least one of these items somewhere in your closet already. I'm telling you its pretty easy to transition your leg-flaunting looks into cooler weather months, and you can always start off with a miniskirt, and even better if it comes in ultra soft suede and a subtle side slit like the one I'm wearing. The great thing about this mini is that it's cleanly styled and very versatile. So it can be worn with a simple white T, long chunky cardigan and knee high boots for a clean look full of basics or you can style it like I did; with a vintage inspired floral print turtleneck with shirred details at the cuffs and neck. Comfort was on my mind when putting this look together since I knew I was going to be in and out of my car all day long running through the city, so I wore my square heeled booties that are perfect for busy days. To go really casual I opted for a backpack instead of a purse as well. It's quite fun to carry my things in a backpack, it takes me back to my childhood, and embodies comfort at its best! :)

Some days it's good to just strip yourself of all color and pick out an entirely simple look. And by simple I don't mean your outfit has to sacrifice in details and staple pieces. But, rather wear a look that speaks for itself. An outfit that doesn't need the help of loud bright colors in order to stand out. That's what I did today with this all white number I've got on. An all white outfit is just so crisp.

Sometimes color can get overrated. I know that’s a huge shocker for me to say, but I’m serious.

Suede Mini Skirt

August 3, 2016Evelyn Madera Leave a Comment

Today's post is more of a style tips guide on how to wear a pink suede mini skirt outfit. Suede is usually thick, kind of heavy and can get hot really fast even if it's faux. So, when you wear it during summer it's best to wear it as a skirt. In my opinion, leave the suede jackets and body hugging dresses for fall, or if you must wear them do it after 7pm, once the day starts cooling down a bit and you won't be miserable. When I saw this skirt for the first time I just knew it was going to be a staple in my closet. I know the color will be a little hard to wear all year round, but I think I can make it work even in December. For now though, it's perfect! We are still in summer and blush pink is the IT color. It's boxy shape provides a girly chic structure, somewhat inspired by the 70's. The golden details make the skirt seem even more special and expensive. In order to make this suede mini pop even more I knew I had to pair it with a well fitted bodysuit. Doing this would make the color stand out even more! (as if that's possible ;)) lol. However, since the skirt is mini, and I was wearing it during the day while on-the-go, I made sure to wear a long sleeve bodysuit. This balanced the entire look and made me feel comfortable all day long. I didn't have to worry about anything slipping, popping out, or riding up. If I were to be wearing it for a night out with the girls then I would've definitely worn it with a deep V-neck bodysuit and strappy heels.

Suede, suede, suede. It’s all about suede right now, that and faux suede as well ;). I’m sure I’ve mentioned it before, but suede is scorching hot right now. Like, you can’t go to any store without bumping into a Read more...

Button down denim + Cable Knit Patterns

April 9, 2016Evelyn Madera

Being that we are stepping into the warmer months of the year, light layers are truly a necessity. I love how this skirt is simple and airy. It sets the ideal tone for my outfit--effortless and comfortable. The lightweight material creates a casual vibe, and the silver tone buttons down the middle only add on to the everyday feel. Of course I had to balance my look, so I paired my button down denim with a light pink, midriff-baring, cable knit bralette. I paired my look with comfy leather wedges, a blue pair of sunglasses, and a fuzzy cross body.

Until a couple of months ago, you would never catch me we wearing a skirt longer than a mini, but shorter than a midi. Unless of course if it was a pencil skirt. That was definitely the exception. Lately I’ve Read more...

Surviving the Holidays in Style

December 23, 2015Evelyn Madera

Surviving the Holidays in Style - The holidays can seriously be super stressful, but you know what, they don't have to be. Surviving the holidays is actually pretty easy. You just have to think of a couple of key pieces that keep you feeling good, looking good and comfortable. Today I'm outlining my 5 must have items to survive the holidays in style. Here we go: 1. Sequins - Sure sequins can be used all year round, but this is the time of year we can wear them all day, everyday. They are just so festive, pretty, and glam. 2. Comfortable heels - Heels and comfortable are usually never found in the exact same sentence. Even though this may sound like an unrealistic dream, it actually can become a reality. Find a shoe that fits perfectly, one that you can stand on for at least 3 hours, and looks good with dresses as well as with pants. 3. Control tights - Holiday season is synonymous with good eating. I'm like an endless pit during this time of year. So what's my secret to keeping me from looking pudgy and bloated? Hanes firm control power shapers. 4. Fuzzy sweater/Shaggy jacket - If you don't have a fuzzy sweater or a shaggy jacket in your closet then I don't know where you've been for the last 16 months. This trend has been around since fall of 2014. Not only does it make any outfit extra luxe, but it also keeps you extra warm and cozy. 5. Hairspray - I had to include my most important beauty product on this list. My Tresemme tres two extra hold hairspray keeps my hair looking fabulous from beginning to end.
